The project concerns a scheme for the conversion and renovation of an office building situated on the edge of the industrial zone of the city of Haarlem, the ‘Waarderpolder’. The existing building could be described as a typical product of its time, with its facade that looks like ornamental pavement of the 70ties with wide, deep window strips. From the second floor upwards it’s got a magnificent view on the surrounding landscape. The project is focused on the architectural (re-)definition of the spatial and material identity of the building in relation to its surroundings and on the architectural articulation of different rentable units within the building.
